"Do not forget your friends or your father's friends..." Proverbs 27:10
As a young atheist, this is the first verse in the Bible that caught my attention and profoundly moved me. We are a people forgetful of our friends, forgetful of our promises. We need a national examination of conscience. We are not faithful to our own, "never forget" we already forgot, we are not loyal to our friends. We are not mindful of our elders, Cuomo's nursing home scandal, and our apathy in the face of it; we are not mindful of our children; we abort them, mask them, send them to day-prisons, jab them, shove Ritilan down their throats as they stare at screens all day. So, of course, we yawned as ISIS raped its way across Iraq, and of course, we abandon the people of Afganistan. Could anyone expect more from us?
